Amazing woman, amazing life. I’m torn on one thing. As far as I can tell, her husband could do no wrong. She never has anything bad to say about him, his politics, his actions, nothing. On one hand, that’s crazy and I find her a bit delusional because no one is perfect. But then there’s the other hand. It’s refreshing to hear about a couple who support each other no matter what. She has nothing bad to say about her husband and that’s a nice change from normal life. So I go back and forth on that. Otherwise, this is an interesting story of a definite Unexpected Life, as the subtitle says. An average girl from America becomes Queen of a nation in the Middle East. Most Americans can’t even tell you where the Middle East is! She learns the language, changes her name, becomes completely immersed in her adopted country. Part memoir, part political commentary, all interesting.
