I am currently working on my Master's Thesis, but I procrastinate by reading all the books I can! In the meantime, I have a good job with fun people.

Interesting look behind the scenes. If I knew more abut Canada/Vancuver, I would have gotten much more out of this!

The Girl With No Shadow

The Girl With No Shadow

Sequel to Chocolat, which I loved though not as much as I loved the movie. Was sorry to see only one old character, other than the two main characters, though I was very glad it was that person! weird to have talk of cell phone and identity theft and suck, since 'Chocolat' seemed to be set years and years ago. Illusion, of course, of it being set in a small town. But sad to break the illusion. I wonder how many people googled 'cri de chat' after reading this book.

The Wives of Henry VIII

The Wives of Henry VIII
By Antonia Fraser

Very good! Amazingly researched and meticulously footnoted. The writers of The Tudors should have read this! Gives a lot of insight into the six women. Clears up some common stories, figures out if they're true or false. Sympathetic without throwing aside the truth.

Sense and Sensibility

Sense and Sensibility
By Jane Austen
(book on CD)

Horrible recording. Words cut out at the end of chapters, an entire chapter is missing, the sound fades in and out. The book was okay. Won't be my favorite Austen by a long shot. Elinor annoyed me, the ending annoyed me, quite a few characters annoyed me. Never thought I'd say this about an Austen book:

The Lord of the Rings: Complete Visual Companion

The Lord of the Rings: Complete Visual Companion

Gorgeous photos, great overview of the story. Short sections on each piece of the puzzle, yet well-written enough to be moving and evoke the memory and emotion of the movie. Nicely done.
